More than 30 years of gardening have gone into creating the gardens at Rich and Rikki Sterrett’s home. The 14 acre farm is located on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. Almost three acres have been dedicated to gardens: two acres of informal cottage gardens and one acre of lined-out daylilies for sales. While the gardens are filled with woody ornamentals, perennials, annuals and bulbs, the emphasis is on daylilies.
Rich and Rikki are both AHS lifetime members with advanced degrees in Horticulture. The garden contains over 1600 varieties of daylilies representing more than 200 hybridizers. They have exercised their Garden Judges training in selecting and growing daylilies. Their collection represents both older, noteworthy cultivars and more recent introductions. They also grow a selection of species and plant introductions from the National Arboretum.
